These new designs are smaller than the first generation designs yet provide output to, or below, 30Hz thereby restoring the bottom octave. They also significantly reduce passband ripple with decreased stuffing, significantly reduce floor bounce anomalies and accomplish this in a physically more stable cabinet!
These designs were all developed using Martin King's MathCAD worksheets (which we commercially license) and then tested for design verification. I want to thank Martin for all of his contributions to the DIY community and for his support!
His worksheets provide a tool that allows one to advance past traditional MLTL design assumptions and rules of thumb, in order to obtain individually optimized designs.
NEW JX92S Systems:
31" MLTL (30Hz) Compact Design
- Looking for the smallest single driver design that still plays down to 30 Hz. than this is for you! This compact design places the driver near the top of the enclosure, optimizes port location and essentially eliminates floor bounce anomalies! Yet it maintains output down to 30 Hz with minimal pass-band ripple.
35" MLTL Sub-30 Hz will accept Jim Griffin's AC Ribbon modifications.
- Best overall choice with room for a tweeter! This design has carefully optimized the driver and port location in order to greatly reduce pass-band ripple. It also provdes output down into the 20s effectively restoring the bottom octave, and all in a very physically stable enclosure. The driver location is kept low in order to provide a very smooth treble listening experience.
40" MLTL 30 Hz will accept Jim Griffin's AC Ribbon modification!
- Want something a little taller that places the driver closer to ear level and is not very deep? This design has carefully optimized the driver and port location in order to significantly reduce pass-band ripple. It provdes output down to 30 Hz while maintaining the tall shallow cabinet profile of traditional MLTLs for the JX92S. Floor bounce anamolies have been reduced when compared to earlier designs
